L to R: Angela Paez (GFWC VA 3rd VP – Director of Junior Clubs), Bonnie Rosemond (District President), Teresa Craig (GFWC VA President)
The annual Spring Alice Kyle District Meeting was held at the Spring Grove Farm in lovely Appomattox, VA. This event was also the GFWC Virginia administration’s “official visit” to our District. GFWC Virginia Third Vice President, Director of Junior Clubs and GFWC Virginia President came to our meeting and spoke on their administration’s goals. Ms. Paez, whose theme is “Virginia Juniors – How Sweet It Is!” spoke about how volunteering has played an active role in her life and the importance of playing an active role in your community. She also spoke about the importance of blood and blood product donations and encouraged members who host or support area blood drives. Remember, every donation can save up to three lives!
Mrs. Craig spoke on her journey to the GFWC Presidency and how being a Clubwoman has had a positive role on her character and made her a more active member of her community. She also spokeabout her theme of “Observing – To Take Notice, To Take Action, ” and the importance of conservation and enjoying the outdoors. As active members in our community, it is our duty to be responsive to the needs of those around us.
In addition to presentations from our GFWC Virginia Leadership, there was also the display and judging of the Student and Member Art Contest. Our district is home to many creative souls and we hope their love of the arts continues to grow and thrive! The “Peek into Fall” quilt fundraiser and the live auction were a success. Members were able to bid on gift baskets donated by the clubs to benefit Hat Creek Camps and Conferences.
