State Project: Dare to Dream of No Hunger

GENERAL FEDERATION OF WOMEN’S CLUBS OF VIRGINIA 2016-2018

During this two year administration, the Executive Committee has approved a special rainbow initiative for each of the four state meetings to help members, clubs and districts feel a part of the newly adopted state project – “Dare to Dream of No Hunger”. Please share these with club members so everyone can participate. Maybe your club could have a project to collect some of the items prior to the state meeting, AND don’t forget to report these activities on both Home Life and State Project forms.

Conference 2016 Rainbow of Refreshments

Members are asked to bring to conference several packets of drink mixes like KoolAid, Crystal Light, etc. These are lightweight, inexpensive and easy to pack. At conference the drink packets will be collected at registration and donated to a food distribution facility in the vicinity of the meeting.

Convention 2017
“A Taste of the Rainbow”

Skittles (advertised as a taste of the rainbow) will be packed into a container. Members at convention will have an opportunity to guess how many are in the container by paying $1 for each guess they make. The prize will be the container and ALL the skittles inside. The real winner will be the State Project Fund and the district that purchases the most tickets will be credited with the full amount collected toward the monetary award to be given each year. It will be down to the wire at this point and extra guesses could determine the winner at the last minute! Encourage members who cannot attend to send a few $1 for guesses and they might share in a taste of the rainbow!

Conference 2017 “Colorful Cans”

Each district will be assigned a different color and members are to bring canned items of that color, such as Red – Campbell’s soup or Chef Boyardee, Green for green beans or garden peas, etc. Cans will be brought to conference and donated to a food distribution facility near the meeting site. Special recognition will be given to the district with the most items donated

Convention 2018

“Pot of Gold
at the End of the Rainbow”

Everybody knows that mac & cheese is the pot of gold at many meals. Members attending convention will be asked to pack boxes or foil packs of mac & cheese to be collected at registration and at the end of the meeting donated to a food distribution facility near the meeting site. Special recognition will be given to the district with the most items donated.
